IT has already made a successful debut in the international market in May this year. The sale of this car is expected to start by the end of this year in the European markets.
If you remember the looks of Skoda’s 7-seater Kodiaq, then you all you need to do is imagine a smaller version of the same, and you would know exactly how the new Skoda Karoq SUV looks. There are many emotive and dynamic changes that have been made to the basic design of the car which adds many crystalline elements to the cars. Some of the most amazing design features that stand out on the first glimpse of the car include
- Front Grill – It is vertically laden and chrome laden.
- Headlamps – They are sweptback and have projector units. They have been integrated with daytime running LED lamps.
- Bumper – You get the large and inspired bumpers of Kodiaq in the new Skoda Karoq SUV.
- Tail Lamps – They have been given an arrow shape and sport a C-shaped pattern.
Some other design highlights of the car include roof rails, ORVMS which have been integrated with the blinkers, creases with an aggressive look and blackened glass area.
The car is fitted with 18 inch alloy wheels. The arches for these wheels have been very stylishly designed. The arches are in a square like shape and the side profile of the same is accentuated by the black cladding.
The cabin has been designed keeping the comfort of all the 5 passengers in mind. The rich leather upholstery gives the car a very upmarket look. Keeping in line with the rich feel, the steering wheel and the gear knobs have also been given a rich and classy look. The interiors of the car have been fitted with many high end equipments, which make it far superior looking than its previous counterpart, Yeti. The high-tech equipments are expected to be the most appealing part of the car for the customers as well.
As far as the dimensions of the car goes, this SUV is going to be a little above 4 meters in length and its overall dimensions would be something like 4382mm length, 1841mm width, 1605mm height and a wheelbase of 2638mm. The ground clearance of the car is going to be somewhere around 200mm. The rear seats of the car can be removed to increase the boot space in the car. After the removal of the Vario Flex rear seats, the maximum available boot space would be about 1810 liters, while with all the seats in their position, the available boot space would be about 521 liters.
Now the most important aspect of the car, its engine. The car is going to be available in two powertrain options TSI and TDI. Both petrol as well as diesel options would be available to the customers. The petrol variant would come with a 1.0 liter turbocharged engine, while the diesel version will have a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine. Again, both the front wheel and rear wheel drivetrain options would also be available. Every Skoda Karoq SUV would come fitted with a six speed manual gearbox. However, the customer would have the option of getting this gearbox replaced with a 7 gear DSG automatic gearbox. It is expected that 2.0 liter TDI diesel engine would be available for both the 4*2 and 4*4 variants. The maximum power output of this engine is going to be somewhere around 148bhp, with a peak torque of about 340Nm.
When it comes to the expectations of the Skoda customers, we all know that no one likes to buy an entry level car. Therefore, the company has made sure that while the pricing of the car would be at the lower level, the look, the feel, the comfort and the technology of the car would be a match to any other high-end SUV present in the market.
